I really enjoy producing bright, colourful pieces, for all ages. I'm still getting to grips with my technique, and style, for these types of images.

This was created for one of the characters in the 3d webcomic 'The Premier' (www.redparkcity.co.uk). The characters name is Decker McPherson, and he's the bad boy/rebel in the story. After his last vehicle (a semi-truck) was lost in an explosion, Decker needed a new vehicle and we all thought the most suitable thing for him would be a chopper. My original plan was to call it the 'Scottish Chopper', 'cause Decker himself is Scottish, and I was going to have a predominately blue color scheme, to go with the St Andrew's cross flag. But as I was producing the bike I felt a more straight forward chopper design would be better, and opted for the black fenders with flame pin-striping. I feel the bike looks more intense this way and is something I am a lot happier with.

When I started modeling this part, which took the longest of the entire model, I only had a basic idea of how I wanted to do it, but it ended up working out really well. And I managed to reduce the poly count quite a bit when it came to finalizing the model, and didn't loose any of the detail put into the engine. Nice!

I wanted to create an image with photographs and digital painting techniques.

I used the sketch as a guide and began compositing various photographs to build up the scene. I painted in elements using standard and custom Photoshop brushes. The vehicles were mostly painted, but also had photographic elements, which included the characters.

This was mostly an exercise in creating an illustration using matte painting techniques. I'm not too sure whether or not I'm happy with it, time will tell, but I do know that my next image will be a lot better, hopefully I've learned a few lessons from creating this image.
